Thrift Date Adventures: A Day of Treasure Hunting and Togetherness

My husband, Patrick, is a thrifting pro. He loves estate sales, auctions, and anything that involves hunting for hidden gems. Over the years, he’s even managed to turn his passion into profit, flipping his best finds for a decent amount of money. While I don’t mind tagging along now and then, spending my entire weekend sifting through racks and bins isn’t exactly my idea of fun.

But a little over a week ago, I had a change of heart. I decided I wanted some new sweaters, and what better (and more budget-friendly) way to find them than by thrifting? Needless to say, Patrick didn’t hesitate for a second when I suggested we go. He was all in, and just like that, our casual shopping trip turned into a full-fledged thrift store day date.

We started at one of our usual spots, and I managed to score a few great pieces. My absolute favorite find? A houndstooth blazer—though Patrick was convinced it looked like it belonged on a grandma’s sofa. (To each their own, right?) I also picked up a chic white tiered Zara dress and a light blue high-waisted chambray dress—both stylish and versatile additions to my wardrobe.

Our next stop was a place we had never been to before, and let me tell you, this was the spot. I found several cozy sweaters, which was my main goal, but the real highlight of the day was a vintage 1996 Foreigner tour t-shirt. As it turns out, the value of the t-shirt alone more than covered the cost of everything I bought at that store!

While I don’t have the patience or passion to make thrifting a regular hobby, I can absolutely see Patrick and I planning more thrift dates in the future. We found some amazing pieces, but more importantly, we spent the day enjoying each other’s company and doing something different from our usual routine.
