Three Bedrooms, One Deadline, and a Whole Lot of Paint!

I set a goal to refresh all three bedrooms at our river house by the end of April—and I’m thrilled to say mission accomplished! It took some serious weekend hustle (and more than a few sore muscles), but walking into each finished room now feels so worth it.

Here’s the rundown:

  • Primary Bedroom: This room got a coastal makeover—light, airy, and perfect for summer weekends.
  • Secondary Bedrooms: Both got a fresh boho vibe with warm tones and relaxed textures. They feel cozy but still bright.

While I love updating spaces, I really love doing it affordably. I reused a ton of what I already had and only bought a few things like curtain rods, curtains, and some décor items (all on sale or from Amazon). I’ll share a separate post soon with all the links if you’re curious!

One major shift? The wall color. When we bought the house six years ago, I painted everything gray (because let’s be honest—Chip and Jo made us do it! 😂). But lately, the gray has felt limiting. I wanted a brighter, cleaner backdrop, so I painted all three bedrooms in Valspar’s Swiss Coffee from Lowe’s, a soft off-white that totally opened up the space.

I also gave the furniture a facelift—painting the dresser, nightstand, and chest of drawers in off-white and their tops navy blue (they were dark brown before). Add in freshly cleaned windows, baseboards, doors, and even the louvered closet doors, and it’s safe to say these spaces got the full refresh treatment.

Now that it’s all done, I can finally relax and enjoy the summer without thinking about “what needs to be painted next.” And honestly, reimagining spaces like this is something I love. If I could make a living helping people reuse what they already own in new, creative ways, I totally would.

Because sometimes, all it takes is a little rearranging, a fresh coat of paint, and a deep clean to make your space feel brand new.

Would you ever pay someone to do that?
(Asking for a friend… wink wink 😉)
