The Best Easter Egg Hunt I Ever Hosted (and How You Can Recreate It!)

When we think of Easter egg hunts, we usually picture little ones running around with baskets in hand, giggling as they scoop up brightly colored eggs. But what if I told you the best Easter egg hunt I ever hosted included everyone — from toddlers to grandparents — and it was an absolute hit?

A few years ago, I wanted to do something different. I wanted an activity that brought everyone together, no matter their age. So I came up with a fun, personalized twist on the traditional egg hunt — and it ended up being one of the most joyful and memorable Easter moments we’ve had.

Here’s How It Worked:

I created 12 custom eggs for each participant.

For those who could read, I printed labels with their names.
For younger children who couldn’t yet read, I used pictures or graphics of things they could easily recognize — like a dog, a cat, a bird, etc.

Each egg had a label, and I stuck them right on the plastic eggs. Then I scattered all the eggs across the yard. Most were in plain sight, while a few were cleverly hidden to give the older participants a little extra challenge.

The One Simple Rule:

If you found an egg that wasn’t yours, you left it exactly where it was — no calling out whose it was or giving hints. This kept the game fun, fair, and surprisingly suspenseful!

Once someone found all 12 of their eggs, they brought them to me and exchanged them for a treat bag I had pre-filled just for them.

Why It Was So Special:

Watching everyone — kids, teens, parents, and grandparents — searching for their eggs with big smiles and a sense of playfulness was something I’ll never forget. It created a shared experience that was both lighthearted and heartwarming. And because every egg was personal, everyone felt seen and included.
