Life gets busy—really busy. Between work, home projects, and everything in between, it’s easy to let the days (and weekends!) slip by without carving out time for the important stuff—like spending quality time with friends.
Lately, my weekends have been full of painting and redecorating at the river house, which has been fun but exhausting. So, I decided to take today off from work to give myself a little breathing room and wrap everything up. Funny enough, I actually finished my projects yesterday, so today ended up being a bonus day—a chance to slow down, run a few errands, and most importantly, grab coffee with my friend Angie.
A few months ago, we discovered this cozy little coffee shop called The Local Cup, and decided to revisit it today. Let me just say—it didn’t disappoint. The coffee is solid, but it’s the vibe that really does it for me. It’s casual, comfortable, and welcoming—the kind of place where you don’t feel rushed, which makes it ideal for long, relaxed conversations.
Most of the seats were taken when we arrived, but we lucked out and found a gorgeous chesterfield sofa (my all-time favorite). We curled up with our legs tucked under us—partly because it felt like home, and partly because neither of us could reach the floor (short girl problems!). And then, just like that, four hours flew by.
We talked about everything—work, family, vacation plans, and all the random little things in between. Fun fact: Angie isn’t just my friend, she’s also my boss. But because of the nature of our jobs, we don’t actually work in the same physical space. So whenever we hang out, it’s intentional and meaningful. These moments are rare—and so needed.
If you’re looking for a place to catch up with a friend, do some laptop work, or just escape into a good book, I can’t recommend The Local Cup enough. It’s the kind of place that feels like a little pocket of calm in the middle of the chaos. And we all need more of that, don’t we?
