Patrick and I just booked our July vacation, and we are literally counting down the days until we leave! We’ve always loved Florida, but this time, instead of heading to Destin, we decided to explore a new-to-us gem on the Gulf—Anna Maria Island.

Nestled on Florida’s stunning Gulf Coast, Anna Maria Island is a picturesque barrier island known for its laid-back vibe, pristine white sand beaches, and crystal-clear waters. Unlike the more commercialized areas of Florida, this charming island maintains a relaxed, old-Florida feel with locally owned boutiques, seafood restaurants, and an emphasis on preserving its natural beauty. With an average temperature in the mid-80s during the summer, it’s the perfect spot to soak up the sun and unwind.

When searching for a place to stay, we stumbled upon the perfect boutique hotel—right on the beach! It has a fantastic retro vibe, and it checked all of our must-haves for accommodations. The best part? It’s pet-friendly! That means our senior dogs, who have already accompanied us to Florida twice, get to come along for another adventure. They love the warm weather and the leisurely pace just as much as we do, so bringing them along was a must.

This trip is extra special because it marks a meaningful anniversary for us. Patrick and I tied the knot on my birthday in 2021, and that was the last time we visited Florida. It only seems fitting to return during the same week this year to celebrate our special day together.

More than anything, Patrick and I cherish spending quality time together, and this week away is long overdue. Between work, responsibilities, and everyday life, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and forget to pause and enjoy the moments that matter. This trip is our chance to slow down, reconnect, and simply enjoy each other’s company in a place that feels like paradise.
