Starting a New Camper Renovation Journey

One of the things I love most about Patrick is his unwavering support for my dreams, even when he doesn’t quite understand them. He doesn’t just cheer me on from the sidelines—he goes above and beyond to make those dreams a reality. Case in point: a few years ago, he bought me an old camper trailer because he knew I had a deep desire to renovate one.

The camper’s condition was… let’s say, less than ideal. It had been sitting in a field for who knows how long and sported a camouflage spray-painted exterior. Determined to make it beautiful, I gave it a power wash and a few coats of fresh white paint. Feeling overly ambitious, I decided to gut the entire interior.

That was my mistake.

If you’ve ever worked on a vintage camper, you know they’re nothing like modern builds. They have curves, not straight lines and perfect corners. After rewiring the outlets and lights, I struggled to make precise cuts for the new walls, and frustration got the best of me. The project stalled, and the camper sat untouched.

Eventually, I decided to cut my losses. Despite its unfinished state, I sold it as-is—and surprisingly, made a profit!

Fast forward a few years, and Patrick, being the car enthusiast he is, has built a successful Cars and Coffee meetup (stay tuned for a future post about that). While I may not share his love for cars, I absolutely love coffee. In fact, it’s my favorite thing in the world. The idea of becoming the coffee vendor for Patrick’s Saturday meets had crossed my mind, and after a few casual mentions of it, my sweet husband went into action.

In November, he came home with… another camper!

I’ll be honest—I haven’t cleaned it yet. I haven’t sketched out plans or even started pinning ideas on Pinterest. This time, I want to approach the project differently. I’m taking my time to think through the design and avoid the mistakes I made with my first camper renovation.

Will this camper become a mobile coffee shop? Honestly, I’m not sure yet. What I do know is that, even in its current state, this camper is already something special. It’s another testament to Patrick’s incredible thoughtfulness and his desire to make me happy—and that, in itself, is truly amazing.

Stay tuned and follow along as this renovation journey unfolds! Who knows what this little camper will become, but I’m excited to see where the road leads. 💕
